Here in Minnesota, with so much Nordic influence, Aquavit has become a staple ingredient on most drinks lists for several years now, but have you wondered what the heck it is?? Aquavit is distilled from grain and flavored with botanicals, similar to gin, and has been produced in Scandinavia for centuries. Like gin, Aquavit is defined by it's main botanical, for gin that is juniper, with aquavit, it’s caraway. To create their own expressions of the spirit, distillers will complement caraway with other spices and botanicals such as dill, cumin, coriander, juniper, fennel, anise, and citrus.
Mixologist and drinkslinger, Marlon Hanson, will be your guide and the class will be a combination of hands-on participation and demonstration. Guests will be able to shake, stir and enjoy their libations along with a selection of bar snacks as Hanson demystifies the art of the craft cocktail. You'll also receive detailed recipes of the cocktails made during the class so you can recreate these libations at home.
Cost is $40 inclusive of drinks, tips, snacks, printed recipes and instruction.
